Getting... Harder... To... Resist.... A/C!!

Its hard to believe some areas of our great country are bracing for more winter weather. The past week in south Florida has been a serious scorcher-- setting record high temperatures in some areas. There has been little cloud cover and little wind, and there is little relief in sight. Summer is upon us, my friends, and its only February. I fear last month's $55.00 FPL bill is facing a steady rise in the next few months. We'll just have to wait and see.

Though things have been warm, I haven't yet resorted to turning on the air conditioning. But over the past few days, the ceiling fans have had to come on in the evenings. Last night, as I lay in bed staring blankly upward at the swirling blades overhead, I realized a great irony. All of our home's ceiling fans pull double duty: in addition to cooling all of our rooms, the ceiling fans also provide light. While the fans in our bedrooms struggle to lower our body temperatures for a comfortable repose, we are simultaneously cooking beneath the radiant heat generated by four, 40-watt incandescent bulbs.

This just doesn't make any sense. Off to the hardware store once again...

  1. That's an incredibly low bill! So low in fact ... lol ... that I'm a wee bit suspicious that you may have extension cords running in from nearby neighbor's yards - Ha! But then again that would be counter intuitive to your project, so probably not. Keep up the good work! :^)
